Discussion: Streetwear Gone Too Far?

Ok, so there's nothing wrong with pushing the design envelope especially when it comes to fashion. I've always though that if you're not moving forward, you're moving backward. But sometimes things can get out of hand. Case in point: the new '9/11 is a Joke' tshirt collaboration from The Cut and Rockers NYC. Now granted I'm not from New York (and clearly Rockers NYC is), but as someone who is aware of what happened on 9/11 I find this shirt to be despicable. I mean am I missing something here? Even if this is meant as a joke, it's the worst joke anyone could make. If the commentary is that a certain aspect of 9/11 (for instance Bush's initial reaction to the news as pointed out by Michael Moore in Fahrenheit 9/11) is a "joke", then I might be able to understand. But seriously, this is straight up embarrasing for anyone who is even remotely associated with the 'streetwear' scene. If I am way off base with this, by all means, please let me know.

edit: So I think I may have figured it out. I'm hoping that the shirt means 9-1-1 as in emergency phone number and not 9/11 as in Sept. 11th. More evidence of the extent to which the current administration and the media have completely reprogrammed Americans. People who buy this shirt had better be careful about where they go! And on another note, just in general what is up with the other designs?

edit 2: Just want to say thanks to those who corrected my misinterpretation of this shirt. When I was writing the post I knew something wasn't quite right, but I wanted to throw it out there because I really was confused by what the shirt was getting at and just had to know for sure.
